Community Mapping
Graphic & Design research
This project was done during my internship with Participate In Design (P!D). I was the graphic design intern and created all the graphic materials required for this project which included the A0 size community map, the engagement cards, flyers etc.
Taken from P!D's website:
"Discovering what and who makes up a neighbourhood is an important first step in many participatory design projects. As part of the Kapor ChatParty initiative by the Octopus Residency, we created platforms for the community of Kampong Kapor and Little India to discover and appreciate the positive strengths and assets that each individual — including local residents, visitors, businesses and migrant workers — can bring to their neighbourhood.
Across a month, we took to the streets of Kampong Kapor, inviting people to share who they wish to thank in the neighbourhood, nominate the best home cooks and hawkers, and map their favourite places. To conclude our residency, we organised a community pot luck party where residents and visitors were asked to prepare dishes with ingredients sourced from the neighbourhood. The stories and assets gathered through this process were documented in an exhibition, and compiled into a toolkit for community organisations to use in planning future neighbourhood programmes.
In collaboration with Octopus Residency, and supported by Central Singapore CDC."
